Match Report: Yorkshire Post: 29th December 1919:

LEEDS UNITED v BRADFORD

A BRIGHT DISPLAY

In these days of competitive football, matches of "Friendly" nature seldom produce play of an attractive character, but the game at Elland Road between elevens representing the above clubs was a distinct exception to the rule. From the beginning to the end the players gave of their best, and therefore the game was always attractive, the 2,000 spectators present thoroughly relished the efforts of the men of both teams. The Bradfordians had a strong wind behind them in the first half, but Leeds scored first through Birtles. At half-time, however, the scores were level, Waite having scored Bradford. The visitors took lead early in the second half, Smith being the scorer. For a time the United seemed a beaten team, but eventually, the men rallied finely and goals being put on by Birtles and Rodgers (penalty), the home eleven obtained a smart victory.
